The Saturday Night Experience with Tony Minvielle
Tony Minvielle - a contemporary of Gilles Peterson, Snowboy, Chris Philips, Patrick Forge, Kev Beadle et al - is a UK based broadcaster / writer of some 30 years standing whose credits include Straight No Chaser Magazine, Virgin Radio (Digital), WCLK Atlanta, Cafe Del Mar, 3RRR's Melbourne and 88.6 Athens. He is a musical journeyman who has worked with or interviewed some of the worlds greatest musical legends including Curtis Mayfield, George Benson, Roy Ayers, Mark Murphy, Gregory Porter, The Jazz Warriors, Gil Scott Heron, India Arie, Sly and The Family Stone, Weldon Irving, Jon Lucien, The Roots, Incognito, Maceo Parker and Snarky Puppy to name just a few.
He emerged from the 70’s/80’s London soul/ jazz scene to establish a home for the scene in the Midlands of the UK. At this time he joined Straight No Chaser magazine as a contributor/ writer at its inception until its final publication 15 years later. He was based in Atlanta USA where he was a correspondent at 91.9 WCLK Atlanta and played a part in launching the careers of India Arie and Anthony David. He is featured in Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgroves acclaimed publication ‘FROM JAZZ FUNK & FUSION TO ACID JAZZ: THE HISTORY OF THE UK JAZZ DANCE SCENE’ as one of the pioneers of this scene.
He is now more associated with his seminal podcast FoldedSpace and his blog 'A Parallax View' through which he has fans who hail from as far afield as Japan, Brazil, Asia, America and Africa.
