2019 marks the 80th anniversary of Blue Note Records, arguably the most famous jazz recording label in history. Started by German immigrant Alfred Lion, fleeing Nazi tyranny, it has gone on to become the definitive jazz label with a huge archive of cherished classic recordings from countless world renowned artists given a platform for, “uncompromising expression.”
