Michael Wilson hosts the Business Breakfast with OANDA every weekday from 6am - 6.30 am.
Apart from his hosting duties at Jazz FM, he is Britain’s longest serving television Business and Economics Editor.
After ten years in news and current affairs at Thames TV, he founded Sky’s business coverage when the network started in 1989. That led to a twenty year career with BSkyB, covering every significant event from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the financial crisis of 2008. He’s a previous Business Broadcaster of the Year (2005) and was made a Freeman of the City of London. Two years ago he co-authored a book with Lord Digby Jones on Britain’s economic future.
Aside from business, Michael is a big music fan. In fact, if he’d not taken his mum’s advice to concentrate on his ‘A’ levels, he would have left school and joined his friend Robert Palmer’s band and become an international rock star. Instead he chose the business journalism and had to wait until later in life to star as a keyboard player in the Hampshire-based band ‘Prick Up Your Ears’. And his love of jazz has developed under Jazz FM’s tutelage over the years. Previously Michael fronted business programmes for Jazz FM and he’s delighted to be back at the station to present the Business Breakfast, first thing.
