Helen presents True Brit from 6pm on Thursday and Late Night Jazz on Friday night from 10pm-2am.
Helen first fronted Dinner Jazz when she joined the station at its inception in 1990. Before joining Jazz FM, Helen was a presenter and producer at the BBC, including presenting documentaries about Louis Armstrong and Nina Simone. Her work with Jazz FM has included broadcasts from jazz festivals in Montreal and St Lucia , and among Helen’s famous interviewees are Joe Lovano, Freddie Hubbard, Dianne Reeves, Michael Brecker, McCoy Tyner, Quincy Jones and Oscar Peterson. Helen has been nominated for Sony and MOBO awards, is twice winner of the Broadcaster of the Year award at the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Awards, and has been inducted into the prestigious Radio Academy Hall Of Fame.
Outside of Jazz FM Helen is a familiar figure on the jazz scene, supporting jazz events, presenting awards such as Yamaha Jazz Scholarships, and she is a Vice President of the National Youth Jazz Collective, an organisation which provides top class mentoring and teaching for the country’s most outstanding young jazz musicians.
