Kenny G (real name Gorelick) is one of the most successful musicians in the world today, with over 75 million albums sold worldwide during his long career. During his early career he worked with Barry White and was a key member of Jeff Lorber Fusion. Since then he has gone on to great heights and shared stages with rock and pop's great and good.
Kenny G is widely regarded as the architect of the so-called 'Smooth Jazz' sound and has gained huge audiences and fan bases across the world including China. Jazz audiences have often been ambivalent and polarised over his music. He is most famously identified by his signature hit ‘Songbird’, soprano saxophone and enviable head of ringlet hair.
But, his trophy cabinet contains Grammy, American Music, Soul Train, World Music and other awards, and he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He lives a wonderful life next to a Californian beach and practises as hard as any busy jazz musician, daily. He’ll be filling large arenas in Gateshead, Manchester, Birmingham and London’s Royal Albert Hall in June 2016.
