American soul star Lionel Richie is making his debut at Glastonbury Festival next summer. Festival organisers have made Richie the first confirmed artist for 2015 and he will appear on the Pyramid stage on the Sunday.
Richie said, “I’m really excited to play Glastonbury next year as it's one of the most iconic festivals in the world. It has a phenomenal history and the alumni of artists who have previously played is incredible so I'm honoured to be joining that club. I can now say 'Yes, I'm playing Glastonbury.’”
Richie, 65, is a former member of soul group The Commodores who forged a hugely successful solo career and had hits including ‘All Night Long’, ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ and ‘Hello’.
