Jazz FM launch coverage of the EFG London Jazz Festival with a live concert by vocalist Kurt Elling from the stage at Ronnie Scott's on Friday November 11th.
Friday 11th November sees Jazz FM launch their coverage of the 2016 EFG London Jazz Festival with a live concert by GRAMMY® winning jazz vocalist Kurt Elling from the stage of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club.
Arguably the greatest male jazz singer of his generation, Kurt Elling’s eight-show residency at Ronnie Scott’s is sold out, so Jazz FM’s live broadcast allows his fans to tune into a 90 minute concert featuring material from his new release ‘This Beautiful Day alongside last year’s ‘Passion World’.
Jazz FM’s live programme is broadcast as part of the weekly Ronnie Scott's Radio Show presented by UK jazz vocalist Ian Shaw and will feature an exclusive interview between Kurt and Ian.
Kurt has long been a highly respected member of the international Jazz community having won the Best Vocalist Award at the inaugural Jazz FM Awards in 2013 and a GRAMMY® in 2009, along with 10 GRAMMY® nominations.
Jazz FM Content Director Nick Pitts says "Live music is at the centre of our output via live sessions from our own performance space and specially recorded concerts. To expand our live output to our audience with a loved and respected musician at the top of his game like Kurt on stage at the legendary Ronnie Scott's is a pure delight. Add this to hours of interviews and live sessions that we will be conducting over the EFG London Jazz Festival, can only reaffirm our policy that performance is at the centre of everything."
Of the partnership, Simon Cooke - MD of Ronnie Scott's says "It’s the perfect storm, we have a two hour special on the UK’s best jazz radio station, Jazz FM, and we have Kurt Elling live at the club, on air and across the world via a live web stream. What’s not to like about all that? We love working with the guys at Jazz FM and of course Kurt is an old friend of the club so it’s a welcome return from him.”
"Ronnie Scott's Radio Show Special - Kurt Elling Live" broadcasts Friday 11th November between 2000-2200.
