After last year’s successful inaugural festival the club has announced the first names in a line-up of British, American, European and Asian artists this August.
Ronnie Scott’s is to host its second International Piano Trio Festival from August 10th to 15th. Building on last year’s hugely successful inaugural festival the club has announced the first names in a line-up of British, American, European and Asian artists.
Having returned to the trio format for his new Blue Note release ‘Covered’ Grammy Award-winning pianist Robert Glasper appears for three nights from August 12th to 14th. Joining Glasper are bassist Vincente Archer and drummer Damion Reid who appear on the new record.
Swiss trio Vein will appear August 15th featuring the inventive Michael Arbenz on piano and Japanese New York based pianist Chihiro Yamanaka (in the video below) on August 14th and 15th. Chihiro, who has an energetic style of play, has produced new albums and DVDs of her work every year since 2001 as well as extensively touring Europe and America.
Representing the UK on August 12th is highly regarded composer and pianist Elliot Galvin who was named 2014 European Young Jazz Musician of The Year. Included in his trio are bassist Tom McCredie and drummer Simon Roth. More British names are to be announced soon.
