One of the great American reed men, and one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 1960s, Charles Lloyd is to release a new album on Blue Note Records.

Lloyd has re-signed for the label after 30 years and releases ‘Wild Man Dance’, a live recording, on April 14th. The US premiere of the album will happen in New York on April 18th. The music was commissioned by and recorded at the Jazztopad Festival in Wroclaw, Poland and is a long suite. Pianist Gerald Clayton, bass player Joe Sanders and drummer Gerald Cleaver feature in the band. Also on the recording is Sokratis Sinopoulos, a Greek lyra player, and Hungarian Miklós Lukács who plays cimbalom, a Hungarian piano-like instrument.

Charles Lloyd is the subject of a recent DVD documentary ‘Arrows To Infinity’.
