Global music icons on Jazz Travels

This week on Jazz Travels with Sarah Ward we have not one but two global music icons. We’re celebrating Africa and its exciting, innovative jazz pioneers with our guests Tony Allen and Mulatu Astatke. While Tony Allen worked as an inventor of the rhythms that underpinned Afrobeat Tony Allen, Mulatu Astatke was busy creating his own sound in Ethiopia and is known as the founding father of “Ethio jazz”. Both feature on this week’s Jazz Travels, Friday at 6pm along with the powerful sounds of their genre defining music.
