Hank Mobley

Henry ‘Hank’ Mobley was a tenor saxophonist with a tremendous pedigree. Donald Byrd compared him to Sonny Rollins (no small compliment) and his bosses included Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis.
For me, there is no finer example of Blue Note bossa than Mobley’s Recado Bossa Nova, a groove masterpiece that builds and builds. I’ll play it and you’ll see what I mean.
