  9. Hi Claire,
Love the music you play on your show and I always link the show to my profile. And, forever searching YouTube for new tracks from the many artists you play. Yes, you’re style is my style too. Keep up the brilliant work and The Late Lounge alive and kicking.

Completely wrapped up in ‘Late Lounge’ now. Like Jazzmaster says it’s not only a great music show but a reference point to open up whole new worlds.

    Keep it coming!

Hi Claire, what a lovely, soothing and positive voice you have. I used to live in London and would listen to Jazz fm but since then haven’t heard much because I don’t like using the internet that often hence haven’t really listened in. Will def be investing in a digital radio to tune in- this is the kind of Jazz lounge music I love to listen to and really is soothing and uplifting and captures perfectly the bohemian spirit I am. What makes the music unique is that it reminds me of when music used to be good. Thanks and please don’t change anything…I’ve only just started listening again!
    Much Peace M.x

    • Claire says:

Get your radio sorted M. Your dear little bohemian spirit will be perfectly complimented by these beautiful ecclectic grooves!

  25. simon says:

    Hi Claire and others*
    as requested Claire, comments on yesterday’s show;
firstly re newbie Laki Mera- absolutely briliant- fantastic voice, smooth slow sexy (r we allowed to say stuff like that?!) delivery, even got my better half dancing to it- and she ”don’t do jazz!”. please lets have some more of her- other tracks if that is pos [??] as well as this one again.

secondly re Elbow ‘audio traffic”- amazing instrumental intro- would love to know what they used to do that! Really apeals to my electronic music obsession [think , Pink Floid [did u know they once did an album- on vinyl- using only period instruments-Uragamba if i recall, Brian Eno etc], so please if u pos can elbow some room for other Elbow tracks!!

thirdly ‘C’mooooooon guys ‘n girls- Claire has now speciffically requested we use the blogs like this one to tell her what we think is hot. So jump on ‘n say ur say!

    Si

    • Claire says:

Si, love your passion. More Laki this week for you. You don’t need to ask more than once for more Elbow either! :-)

  26. James says:

Hi Claire, i had leave 6Music to tune to your sweet tunes!!! Dedicated… to JAZZ!!!

  27. Matt J says:

How funny; this si the first time i am actually listening live and not on the Audio on Demand, and i was going to write and say hello and ask you to play Toxic… and there it is! C’est Magnefique! Keep up the good work! Best show on the radio….

  28. Patrick says:

I used to listen to JazzFM a lot when I lived in London 15 years ago (!). Then it was Dinner Jazz but now it’s this show. Have to say it’s my favourite by a long way.

Can I put in a track suggestion? Destination, the last track on newforms by Roni Size/Reprazent. That album is supposed to be drum’n'bass but most of it sounds like jazz fusion to me. Destination is a bit long but has several gaps you could cut it at. Several other tracks are possible too. Oh, and more Nick Drake please! (Pink Moon, Harvest Breed…)

    • Claire says:

I LOVE getting suggestions and will check out RS. Thank you. I agree also, the more Nick Drake the better.

      Chuffed we’re your fav show.

      Love Claire

  29. Andrew A says:

    Hi Claire!

First of all… Happy Birthday! Albeit belatedly, as I missed last night’s show so I’m catching up using Audio on Demand this morning.

Looking forward to your show in Bermuda.

Really enjoying the music, being a “veteran” Late Lounger since the early 2000s, I love the “classics” as well as the new stuff. It’s perfect to listen to anytime of the day.

Is there to be a new Late Lounge album anytime soon?

Safe journey and all the best. Keep up the good work, Claire.

    Andrew A.

    • Claire says:

Thanks A. Really lovely message. Love a vintage Late Lounger and looks like you’ve been here from the start!

The Caffe Sessions IS the new Late Lounge album, with coffee on the side! It’s really lovely. You can get it via the shop on jazzfm.com, but I don’t want to sound like a pushy sales woman, so will stop now! :-)

      Take care

  39. ElJay Arem says:

Hello, dear Claire & Colleague !
…. as night worker behind my office desk hitting the keyboard in my cultural journalistic work its phantastic to have your show and voice around smoothing my ears and calming down my mind. The world appears more peacefully… I listen Jazz.FM via Internet Stream from North Germany, Hamburg… you are doing a great job with the RJ mixes (Why does Jazz.FM call you a DJ ? Aren’t we Radio Jokeys ? *laugh*). Just read your ‘CV’, seems you are a real professional spinning around in the world of broadcasting medias. Fabulous as I am just in that since 6 years :-) . But it changed my life into something very positive having a John McLaughlin for a 28 minutes TV special front camera or a Trilok Gurtu in my studio, probably you know from his collaboration with Jan Gabarek and more… Dont want miss it anymore to be behind the mic… So all the best, keep going your lovely shows ! – TC/Warm regards – LJ

Hi Claire, I keep listening to your amazing show, and I have been thinking how I could capture the feeling of the music you play in a live venue. However, I am struggling to find the right places to go. I would be very greatful if you could point me in the right direction. Keep up the brilliant work !!!!!!!!!!!

    Domenik x

    • Claire Anderson says:

      Hi Dom

Good point. I think the Late Lounge will have to find it’s own venue to be live in. Either that or we must all go and live in IBIZA where it’s always Late Lounge music!

  52. Loving your beats Clair on a Virgin train from Euston to Birmingham listening online. x

  53. John says:

Hello Late Loungers…I’m trying to locate a unique remake of Toxic that was played on LL a few months ago. There have been several remakes but this one was quite creative with a real clarinet (at least it sounds real).

So good to be back in the arms of the late lounge again…
This show got me through many late night projects and my dissertation 10 years ago (until some numpty put the show on hold), but hey your back and that’s what’s important.

Decorating our baby’s room tonight, so would love you to play a tune! His name is Noah and he’s 4 months old today.

One Of These Mornings – Moby Feat. Patti LaBelle from the Miami Vice Soundtrack is very soulful and evocative . If you can find this version rather than Moby’s 18 Album version, I would be most grateful.

Keep the good tunes flowing. Thanks from the Isle of Man

    Joel

Ps Hope you get to try some of fantastic local ice cream when you do the Radio Ad’s

    Hi Clare,
I just wanted to say thanks for the great show and music which was (and of course continues to be…) refreshing to hear!! When I was in another country with a 5 hour time lag, setting off every afternoon to my evening job, it really set me up for the whole evening, such that I’d reminisce the very next morning via ‘Audio on Demand’ (another brilliant resource).

    Thanks for the memories

    Hi Clare,

I’m a uk expat listening to your sublime sounds from sunny Barcelona. I also remember listening around 8 years ago whilst I was still in London finishing off my degree. And then the late lounge disappeared for ages ! To my delight, 6 months ago I discovered that via the Jazz fm website not only could I listen to you live again but also listen to the previous day’s night show whenever I wanted. Thank God for the internet the Late Lounge, which of course would not be same without your amazing voice. Great work Clare ! PS – any chance of a small request? Placebo – running up the hill

    • Claire says:

      Hi Neeraj,

Great to hear from you. Thanks so much for your support. I LOVE that Placebo track. ( I love Brian, what can I say? Men in make up work for me!) I think I will spin it for you and see what folks think of it. Never thought of it for the Late Lounge.

    Hi Claire,

I loved your show years ago when it was still on regional radio and thought I had lost Jazz FM forever. What ever took over the band width was a load of rubbish. I’m over in Montreal now – for a while anyway and your show brings me much closer to home. I love Jazz FM and its on all the time. Thanks! Derek

    • Claire says:

      Hi Derek

We are glad to be your home from home, in a musical sense anyway. Montreal sounds nice. Lucky you!

Stay cosy and thanks for your lovely message.

  71. Anthony B says:

Hey Claire – First time I have ever contacted the show, and I think tonight is the perfect night to do so, considering I have religiously listened for over 8 years. After listening to the show from the days of Rosie Kendrick when I was in college, the late lounge has been ever present to the night owl I am, as I worked through those long nights in University, the glowing sounds illuminated the background. – I just want the thank the show for seeing me survive the – 2 years of college 4 years of University and 2 years of travelling. I now sit in my brand new home with my wife to be and as my mind wonders I cant help but think, all the good that surrounds my world now is down to those late nights and your enchanting sounds.
Warmest regards Ant & Steph (Cheshire)

    • Claire says:

      Hi Ant and Steph,

Thanks for your lovely words. We are honoured that you have been a Lounger for SO long. Delighted to be here to share this amazing tunage with you. Good luck with the up coming wedding. Pictures please! :-)

      Love Claire x

  72. Bob Clarke says:

Claire — your show provides the most enjoyable mix of music anywhere. I have become a fan of Jazz because of you and listen to your show regularly. Keep up the great work!!

My only criticism is that I can’t share your music when my friends are over. When I listen by myself, the loudness of your commercial (sponsors) messages can be turned down or muted with my remote, so that the mood created by the music is not lost. However, I can’t be fiddling with a remote when friends are visiting, so the increased loudness of the commercials just becomes annoying, causing me to tune in a different station.

Why not make your show even better by toning down the volume of commercials so that I don’t need my remote. I am happy to listen to sponsors when they are not loud, especially if the commercials are tastefully done and maintain the mood.

Either way, I will continue listening to your show because it is still the best !

    Best Wishes
    Bob
    The Villages, FL, USA

    • Claire says:

      Hey Bob

tonight’s music is just fabulous Claire.. I am listening most nights..
I miss your programme on weekends.. but as you said earlier,, you are just exhausted and so ready for the weekend.. I understand that.. the busyness and mental demands on us in December takes its tolls
having said all that .. haven’t the sunrises and sunsets been breathtaking this week
seeing all those beautiful colours like a canopy..
really grateful for the planning you put into your playlists..love it
“Beyond my imagination” is one of my all time favourites ( I thought you played it by Jazz Vandals before) is that the same group? where can I buy this??
have a great time “vegging” this weekend.. I hope to be out on my horse in the fresh air..

Why is last nights programme (7 Feb) not available on listen again (again)?

Paul C – yes, there was someone else broadcasting over that show – there were (syncing?) beeps through a good part of it as well – very annoying, ruined the programme for me.

  86. Tim says:

Where is last night’s show (15 Feb)? Audio on demand goes to 14 Feb Dinner Jazz. Does anyone read these comments?

Hi Tim, apologies for the problems we had with Audio On Demand last week. These should hopefully be resolved now. Best, Matt

Hi Claire – Discovered your show a few weeks ago and I’ve been hooked ever since! I’m a Robbie Vincent veteran listener. Could you be kind enough to please let me know the title/artist of the background music in the second video diary from the top of this page. I’d be most obliged! Kind regards and a big thank you for your unique music show. Rod

  90. Kevin Ayres says:

Hi, I first discovered the Late Lounge as student in the early naughties when I had a part-time job working ‘unsociable’ hours for a well known high street retailer (M&S). However, my good wife gave me a DAB radio for Christmas and I have since rediscovered it – the Late Lounge is like an old friend. Welcome back!
