Robbie Vincent’s Essential Rhythms

Robbie Vincent’s Essential Rhythms

Robbie plays soul and funk classics, old and new, every Sunday morning at 10am.

Anyone living in London who was into soul music in the '70s and '80s will be familiar with Robbie Vincent. As presenter of Radio London’s Saturday Lunchtime Soul Shows, he became an essential listen bringing us the latest sounds hot off the press. Radio 1 called and there he presented a soul and disco show and went on to be one of few UK presenters to interview Marvin Gaye. Later, he presented on the likes of LBC and Kiss and now we're delighted he's with us here on Jazz FM.

You can become a friend of Robbie on his facebook page.

And Robbie recently gave a rare interview to The Soul Survivors Magazine - read it here.

    Hi Robbie -
    “Welcome Back”
Delighted you are managing to beat off the vile C – Around the time you were diagnosed someone close to me was receiving the same devastating news…Unfortuantly we lost her late last year @ 29 !
With that in mind and your respective battles ! can I request the following:
In the Thick of It – Brenda Russell for you and Josie.
I know it is one of your fav’s – I remember asking for a mention 30 years ago last month when my buddies Andy – Robert & myself flew to America for the first time – We brought a radio to the Gate and you gave us a mention and played Brenda as we boarded (that radio would be a major security risk today)
Greg & Jeff did brilliantly – but its great to have you back -
    Michael / Location: Dulwich.

    Robbie

Welcome back to where you belong!!!. In common with many listeners I grew up with you, in my teens, when I lived in the bleak east Lincolnshire countryside. I would place my little transistor radio against the copper piping above my mum’s cooker and lo and behold every Saturday lunchtime in the mid seventies I was able to hear your dulcet tones and fill my boots with all the latest soul and funk tunes from the USA. By the way I never did appreciate your references to ‘Beckenham Transit Express’ until I relocated to south London some 31 years ago, then it all made sense. Thanks for influencing my musical tastes Robbie and may the force be with you for many year’s to come.

    Paul

Thanks for all the years and the fact that you are still there and fighting.

    All the best

    J Sawhney
