On my afternoon show all this week we have music and conversation with Brenda Russell and our very own Robbie Vincent!
Brenda came to the Jazz FM studios recently to talk to Robbie about her life and times and the music behind the songs. We find out about tracks like “Piano in the Dark”, “Walkin’ in New York” and “It’s a Jazz Day” and more. The 30th Anniversary collection “In The Thick of It – The Best of Brenda Russell” is released on the Dome record label next Monday (29th June).
I am very excited about my “Track of the Week” this week, it’s a new singer who came on my radar recently – Diane Birch. A preacher’s daughter from the US and her new CD “Bible Belt” is produced with soul singer Betty Wright. Her unique soulful voice just oozes 70’s retro – Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon.
