Fusion Flavours with Steve Quirk

Fusion Flavours with Steve Quirk

Steve's been, in the words of superstar saxophonist Dave Koz, the 'go-to' guy for all things smooth jazz. As host of Fusion Flavours, launched in Manchester in 1990, Steve's passion for the music he loves and his desire to share it has helped make smooth jazz much more than just an American phenomenon.

Whilst hosting the show on Jazz FM for eight years throughout the '90s, he compiled all 15 all-star double albums and has been instrumental in bringing top artists like Fourplay, Dave Koz, Peter White, Boney James and Rick Braun (plus the popular annual Guitars & Saxes tours) to venues across the country.

Hear Fusion Flavours with Steve Quirk, weekdays from 1pm.

Hi Steve, Andy Peebles who I have followed since he first arrived on Piccadilly Radio told me you were now only on Jazz fm.I have been trying to find out for some time now if you ever got a copy of your show from May 26/27 2002 which I posted to you and said that in my oppinion if it were to be released would garner large sales.I sent it to you after I had bought your 20th Anniversary Fussion Flavours compilation which is great. Not only do I keep playing the show from May 2002 but I also listen nearly every day to Duncan Smith and his best of 1988 mix. That man was a genius.Best Wishes Gordon Davies.

    To Steve Quirk
    Hi Steve,

I am relying on your thorough knowledge of smooth jazz and fusion to help me out with a problem – which i have attempted to solve for over ten years.
I adore the sound and texture of the background music used in the tv documentary “our man in the Bronx” with Clive Anderson. particularly the track which comes up at the end just before the credits.
I’m convinced you would know the musicians. If I knew who they are, I’d buy every album.
I was a keyboard player in the late sixties progressive rock, and graduated to fusion in the mid seventies – like so many of your listeners I guess.
Really hope you can help me
    Cheers

Hi Steve, hey !I’ve written to you before, no response, however no problem, We love the music you play. I usuually listen at the w/e when work is finished and I’ m catching up with whatever… We have been ‘fans’ of Jazz FM from the very beginning when we lived in Reigate We live in Menorca now and the thing we both miss is the availability of Jazz clubs in London and the excellent artists that appear there. We have to go to Barcelona to access good live Jazz not so bad really! But we can listen to Jazz FM thru the internet and on Freeview and this is fantastic !Keep up the good work Steve you are a star !! Pat and Graham Bromwich.p.s Graham , lucky devil is booked into Pizza Express Dean St. on 24/2 to see Chris Standring with our daughter. He’s supposed to be in the UK helping her to move to a new house !

Hey, last November I was working in Milton Keynes and was taken to the Stables.
An amazing guy with a fantastic band – Nelson Rangell (pronounced Ranjell) took the place apart and I bought 4 cd’s! Really nice guy to talk to. Pity the hall was only half full but it was a Tuesday I think.
Do you ever play him? Never heard you do so yet. The audience loved the whole show but ‘Theme Part 2 From One Man Dog’ (by James Taylor) brought cheers and shouts after the wonderful story he told.
He played everything from Randy Brecker’s ‘Shanghigh’ to Faure’s ‘Pavane’ – you should have been there man, it was great – he even whistles!
Give him a play Steve, I’m sure he’s your style. T.
