Sound of Jazz FM 2009On the programme this Saturday from 6pm, we will be looking back at the Bank Holiday Luxury Soul Weekender in Birmingham.

Some of the highlights include:

An exclusive and totally brilliant cover version of a Roy Ayers’ classic performed ‘live’ by Omar and recorded by Jazz FM during Omar’s amazing performance on Saturday night, we’ll also play Omar’s collaboration with Swiss singer Seven ‘Wish of a fool’. A ‘Live’ track by The Sunburst Band ‘Our lives are shaped’ plus two other fantastic Sunburst Band tracks, watch our Joey Negro dropping hints for a new Sunburst band project he is working on. Plus there’s interviews with Joey Negro aka Dave Lee, DJ’s Paul Clifford, Richard Searling and celebrated music journalist David Nathan.

We also have some of the big tunes of the weekend. Including the Tom Moulton remix of Barbara Mason’s ‘Are you ready’ as played by Bob ‘The crate’ Smith in his amazing Sunday afternoon set. Bob also played a ‘Live’ version of Maze ‘Golden time of day’ from the 1982 Hammersmith Odeon gig. This came out c/w ‘Before I let go’. Not heard that in years.
