Richard Wheatly

Richard Wheatly

Richard likes jazz - his day job is running Jazz FM. When he closes the door to the Clifford Street offices in London, he likes nothing more than settling down to listen to some cool jazz at some of the UK’s best and sometimes least known music venues. On his show he’ll play some of his favourite late night jazz tracks and give away some of the secrets of the jazz hideaways that he’s recently found.

    Richard:
Joy and I missed your show last Sunday. We were still in Milan and by midnight, we had fallen asleep as our young daughter wore us out with her equivalent “tapas” crawl in Milan’s Duomo area. We will tune on this coming Monday…that’s your Sunday midnight.
    Best regards
    Guido

    Hi Richard

The station is sounding better than ever. Think there is just enough smooth jazz now to be honest. All the best for 2011!

  5. Rita Andersson says:

Hi Richard, I always enjoy your programme on Sunday nights. You usually play my kind of Jazz. I like Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, Billie Holliday, Duke Ellington, Clarke Terry who I met at Ronnie Scotts club in Birmingham, sadly now closed. How I miss it! Clarke is a lovely man and invited me and my husband in to meet him in the interval, and posed with me for a photograph. When he realised my husband was from Sweden Clarke spoke a little Swedish to him ! I’ll be listening in to see if you play any of my favourites. I am hoping to go to see Ray Gelato on the Jazz FM tour as he is at Solihull. We have seen him a few times and also at the Javea Jazz festival in Spain. He always gives a great performance so I hope we can get tickets. Bye ….. RITA
