The Latin Party (11pm/Friday) is a feel-good hour of Latin Jazz, Salsa, Brazilian and dancefloor jazz to get you in the mood for the weekend.

The Saturday Night Experience (9pm) is two hours of the best in Nu Jazz/Broken Beat/Neo Soul/Funk/Rare Groove and everything that's good for you on a Saturday and The Cutting Edge (Sundays/10pm) is two hours of the very best in contemporary jazz, covering many styles from post-bop to fusion. Each week it features upfront music from forthcoming releases - it's definitely a jazz musical mystery tour!

Interview With Mike Chadwick

1. What’s your favourite Jazz FM programme and why?

I’ll say one of mine, The Big Easy, because it opened a whole new world of music to me and helped me to win my first Sony Radio award.

2. What’s the first record you bought and where did you buy it?

It was ‘Son of My Father’ by Chicory Tip, bought from a shop called Swales in Altrincham.

3. What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod/in your collection?

I don’t have any embarrassing songs; well, I don’t think they are, anyway.

4. In your opinion, what’s the greatest album of all time and why?

Impossible to pick one, but as I have to let’s go for Todd Rundgren’s ‘A Wizard, A True Star’. A truly genius album, from psychedelia to crisp pop to beautiful soul music. Incredible. You weren’t expecting that, were you?

5. What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?

Again, far too many magical moments, but if I have to pick one then The Zawinul Syndicate – Amsterdam Jazz Festival 1989 in a huge marquee in Dam Square on a hot summer night.

6. What’s your favourite live music venue and why?

The Band on the Wall in Manchester, an important venue in my musical life for many styles of music and now I am proud to say that I am the programmer of the venue.

7. Jazz Is...

Yes, it is!

8. In your opinion, who’s the most inspirational radio presenter of all time and why?

Peter Clayton (Sounds of Jazz) and Alexis Korner, the epitome of cool, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, passionate radio presenters. I also listened religiously to the Friday Rock Show with Tommy Vance and Mike Shaft’s weekly Jazz Breaks on his Soul show was essential listening.

9. What’s been your most embarrassing moment in radio?

I’ve left the mic on a couple of times, said a rude word occasionally but thankfully nothing major as yet, but you never know.

10. What’s your favourite film and why?

‘North by Northwest’, my favourite Sunday afternoon movie.

11. Who would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Joni Mitchell, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Billie Holiday and Prince.
