Union Island is the furthest of the inhabited islands from St. Vincent and is often a starting point for trips to Palm Island, Petit St. Vincent and the Tobago Cays.
It is rich with history – archaeological discoveries have established that original settlers were on the island from as early as 5400BC and remained until the 1750s when the Europeans arrived and it is still the island of the people. Unionites are deeply proud of their island, almost to the point of considering it an independent country.
Union Island has a striking silhouette, with a volcanic peak, Mount Parnassus rising 300 metres above a coastline of long white sand beaches and small coves.
It is home to some amazing local festivals including Eastervial, the Maroon and The Cake Dance which is performed when someone in the community is going to be married.
