Archie Shepp Interview

Legendary saxophonist Archie Shepp spoke with journalist and broadcaster Gerry Lyseight on his recent visit to London with the new Attica Blues Orchestra. He spoke about the new recording 'I Hear The Sound' which commemorates the 40th anniversary of his landmark 'Attica Blues' album, made in the wake of the violent and fatal Attica prison uprising of 1971. Jamieo Brown Interview

New York based drummer Jaimeo Brown was the toast of the gathered jazz writers and industry high rollers at JazzAhead earlier this year with performances of his Motema Records debut 'Transcendence'. As well as beautiful Carnatic Indian influences his work celebrates the work songs and spirituals of an Alabama community called the Gee's Bend Quilters. Jaimeo's music is built around field recordings in a setting of contemporary free jazz. His acclaimed trio features Chris Sholar on guitar, who has worked with hip hop's Jay Z, Q-Tip and more and JD Allen on saxophone. During his recent visit to London Jaimeo took time out to talk to Chris Philips.
