Listen to Kyle in conversation with Michael Wilson here.
Kyle is at the forefront of the contemporary jazz scene, with 'considerable charm and unassuming excellence' in the words of The Times. He is of course Hollywood actor Clint's son, and he's developing quite a career. He studied under legendary Chick Corea bassist Bunny Brunel, and his debut album, an all-star affair called 'From There to Here', was released in 1998. Since then, he's toured extensively with his own quartet and composed music for his father's films including 'Mystic River' and 'Million Dollar Baby'.
When he is not on tour, Kyle spends much of his time in France, so it was natural to look there for an ideal place where he and his musicians could relax and allow their creative juices to flow. Such a place turned out to be the 15th-century Couronneau in Bordeaux, and 'Songs From The Chateau', Kyle's fifth studio album, was recorded there in its entirety.
Kyle's brilliant band features drummer Martyn Kaine, Quentin Collins on trumpet, Graeme Blevins on saxophone and pianist Andrew McCormack.
