American soul/jazz singer Carleen Anderson popped in to the studio recently to see Mike, ahead of her performance at Celebration of Life 2009 which takes place on October 16th at the Royal Festival Hall. You can hear her on air on Saturday 10th October.

Carleen found early fame with the huge hit single Apparently Nothin’, performed by her band Young Disciples and has since gone on to great things as a popular and highly rated soul/jazz vocalist, both as a solo artist and in the company of such acts as The Brand New Heavies, Paul Weller and Courtney Pine.

As well as her stunning success in the R&B and pop world, she’s played to sell-out crowds at the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, showcasing her credentials across a variety of genres.  There’s also the small matter that her godfather was the late, great James Brown, and if he was the Godfather of Soul then it’s safe to assume Carleen has that wrapped up too!
