Manchester’s legendary music venue Band on the Wall is back. The venue has unveiled plans for its exciting launch celebration and brilliant first season including some outstanding Jazz, Soul and Funk gigs.
Kicking off its first season since closing over four years ago for redevelopment, Band on the Wall relaunches on the 25th September 2009.
Highlights include an unmissable double bill of soul diva Mica Paris with legendary jazz pianist Julian Joseph, nu jazz guru Bugge Wesseltoft and soul singer Eric Roberson. Other acts confirmed include Mercury nominees Polar Bear and internationally acclaimed saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi.
When Band on the Wall reopens on 25 September, it will be bigger and better than ever. New facilities will include a state-of-the-art sound system and a brand new Steinway grand piano, an education suite from where a series of initiatives with local schools and colleges will be run, plus audio-visual and sound studios in its new multi-use social space the Picturehouse.
