FAQ

We get asked lots of questions every day and here's where we'll try to answer the most common ones.  If we haven’t answered your question, please contact us in the usual way.

Why is Jazz FM not on FM?

There are very few opportunities to broadcast on FM radio available. Instead, you can hear us at jazzfm.com, on DAB Digital Radio across the country and on digital television.

What is DAB?

DAB is an abbreviation for ‘Digital Audio Broadcasting’. It is a form of audio transmission that is in a digital, rather than analogue (such as FM/AM) format. A DAB radio can be purchased in all good electronic retailers for as little as £15 and is just one of the platforms that Jazz FM broadcast on. To find Jazz FM on DAB, simply select ‘autotune’ on your radio and we should appear automatically. You can find out more about DAB Digital Radio at www.digitalradionow.com.

I have a DAB Digital Radio but I can’t find you?

We broadcast across the UK on DAB. Tune your radio to 'Jazz FM National'. Find out more about DAB at  www.digitalradionow.com.

Do you have any plans to broadcast on DAB to my area?

We are always looking at ways in which we can effectively increase our coverage – it's certainly possible that extended DAB coverage is one way in which this might happen. Check back here for news, or drop us a line to enquire.

I’m having trouble listening online, why?

If you are having trouble hearing the audio feed, there is likely to be a simple solution to the problem. The most common problem is that your computer does not have the correct software installed. All the software required is completely free and there's a list of links below:

For PC users:

For Mac users:

• MacOS X 10.1 – 10.6

• Browser: Safari

• You must have Adobe Flash installed (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ )

If you're having trouble with our pop-up player or you have a device where you need to have a direct stream address, just try the following::

• AAC (supported by most media players and phones): http://listen.onmyradio.net:8000

or http://listen.onmyradio.net:8050 (Broadband)

• MP3 (widely supported): http://listen.onmyradio.net:8002

If you're using an internet radio device such as the Sonos or Reciva radios, you can manually add those links to listen if the directory has not updated.
