Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end violence against women and children and keeping the voices of survivors at the heart of their work as they strive to create new and innovative solutions to the problem of domestic and sexual violence.

Domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women at some point in their lifetime and recent statistics from the Women’s Aid Annual Survey show that last year an estimated 18,000 women and 20,000 children lived in refuge accommodation in Women’s Aid’s national network of services.

The launch of ‘Take My Hand’ marks the beginning of Women’s Aid’s activities to mark the ‘16 days of Action‘, where the charity will ask the public to help them take action against violence against women and children.

Their work is built on 35 years experience in campaigning and developing new responses to domestic and sexual violence.

They coordinate and support a network of over 370 local organisations, which provide refuge accommodation, helpline, outreach services and advice centres to close to 250,000 abused women and children each year.

Women’s Aid also provides national 24-hour lifeline services for women experiencing domestic and sexual violence, accessed by hundreds of thousands of people every year.
