Created by Jazz FM and Radisson Edwardian Hotels, The Bloomsbury Set is a series of intimate evenings of simply great food and world-class jazz in the glamorous surroundings of the exclusive Radisson Edwardian Bloomsbury Street Hotel.
One Saturday each month will see The Bloomsbury Set enjoying a spectacle of glamour, good food and great music as 150 guests mingle amid candlelight in one of London’s most beautiful locations – the Folio Room.
The Bloomsbury Set will launch on Saturday May 22nd with one of the UK’s finest male vocalists Ian Shaw.
Ian’s performance will also include a special appearance with his friend and newly-signed Jazz FM artist Eileen Hunter whose self-titled album is set to launch on Jazz FM’s Clifford Street Records in June this year. This inaugural Bloomsbury Set gig will offer a sneak preview ahead of the release of this powerful jazz album.
“We’ve gone right to the top for our artists,” said Jazz FM’s Chief Executive, Richard Wheatly. “The Bloomsbury Set is a terrific initiative – bringing top class jazz artists exposure, outside traditional venues and re-inventing the tradition of wonderful entertainment in London’s hotels. We expect this to become a regular monthly adventure that will feature in every London jazz fan’s diary.”

The Bloomsbury Set will continue in June with an evening with Ian Shaw’s good friend Liane Carroll on Saturday 26th who has been described by the critics as simply and utterly brilliant. ”I always look for honesty in music,” says Liane, “and try to portray this as much as possible on record and on stage”.

Ian Shaw is one of the UK’s finest male jazz vocalists with an exciting, edgy and provocative style which has made him a popular name both at home and in the States. An incredibly colourful character, he has been cited, along with Mark Murphy and Kurt Elling, as one of the world’s finest. He was named Best Jazz Vocalist at the BBC Jazz Awards in 2007 and 2004 and has already amassed a number of highly acclaimed albums.
