Barbara Streisand turns to jazz

Barbara Streisand

Barbara Streisand will be turning to jazz on her new album as she teams up with Diana Krall.

Entitled ‘Love Is The Answer’, it is set for release on September 29th and will be her first studio record since 2005’s ‘Guilty Pleasures‘.

In a statement her record label have said:

‘Love Is The Answer’ presents the artist as a cabaret and jazz singer of emotional clarity, depth and maturity.

This is the first time Streisand has worked with the Grammy-winning Krall and her quartet of guitar, bass, and drums.

Rounding out the album’s smoky after hours ambience with his orchestrations is songwriter and arranger Johnny Mandel, who worked with Streisand on her 1993 ‘Back to Broadway‘ album.

He also arranged/co-produced Krall’s 1998 Grammy-winning ‘When I Look In Your Eyes‘.

Song titles for the album have yet to be announced but the sound of the album reportedly features more spare and subtle accompaniments than previous Streisand albums.

The veteran singer continues to be in high demand as her most recent concert DVD has topped the Billboard charts since its debut on April 28, also setting the highest sale for any music DVD this year.
